When sending a parcel, there are a few things you can do to help reduce carbon emissions. The packaging you use can make a big difference – almost a third of all plastic produced is for packaging and only 14% will be recycled, according to a report by the World Economic Forum and Ellen MacAthur Foundation.

If you're sending a parcel with DHL Service Point, you can use our free recyclable packaging. Or, if you're sending through DHLitNow or DHL by Phone where you use your own packaging, we recommend using a biodegradable and recyclable option.

Choose packaging to match the size of your items so that you don't need much, if any, parcel filler (such as packing peanuts). Most packaging filler is instantly thrown away into landfill, so where possible minimise its use and make sure you use a biodegradable option.
