ACCOUNT AND PAYMENT

ACCOUNT AND PAYMENT

Got a question about a DHL account or payment options? Here are our FAQs to help you find the answer to your question. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, get in touch with our team for further assistance.

The cost to send a parcel with DHL Express UK is made up of various factors such as the size (dimensions), weight, destination and the sending method (whether you book a courier collection online or by phone, or drop your parcel off). The smaller the parcel, the less you pay, the larger or heavier the parcel the more you pay. The dimensions of a parcel are always length (L) x height (H) x width (W). We will need accurate measurements to calculate the cost of sending your parcel and to avoid delays.

There is also volumetric weight if your parcel is large but light in weight. To calculate the volumetric weight, multiply the length (L) x height (H) x width (W) and divide the result by 5000. The final answer will be in weight (kg). The parcel weight is rounded up to the nearest half kilo. The greater of the two weights (actual weight vs volumetric weight) will then be used for the parcel delivery cost.

Take note that non-document parcels to destinations outside the UK may be subject to Customs duties and taxes, and these additional costs are not included in the cost of sending a parcel. Customs duties and taxes are always paid by the receiver upon delivery unless you have a DHL Express account where you have the option to set up various delivery preferences.

To compare prices and choose the cheapest way of sending your parcel, get a quick quote now to see the three available options:

1) You can drop your parcel off at over 1,200 DHL Service Point locations nationwide where free boxes and envelopes will be provided. The cost of sending your parcel this way depends on the zone that you're sending it to and the box size you choose. Explore our DHL Service Point price and size guide for our drop-off pricing details. No printer is needed as it's done in-store.

2) When you book a courier collection online, you can book up to 5 days ahead and specify a 3-hour collection window. For this option use your own packaging instead of the free DHL envelopes & boxes provided in store. You'll need a printer to print the label and for international shipments, the invoices.

3) The cost of making a booking for courier collection over the phone with DHL Express will be the highest. Call Customer Service on 0844 248 0828. Note that calls to DHL UK phone numbers beginning ‘084’ cost 7 pence per minute, plus your phone company’s access charge. You'll need a printer.

You don’t need an account to send a parcel with DHL Express. All of our services available on this site are intended for customers who don't have an account.

However, if you send international parcels on a regular basis, you may benefit from opening a DHL account.
