  • The islands are home to the Pacific flying fox, a large fruit bat essential to the ecosystem. These bats play a crucial role in pollinating native plants and dispersing seeds, maintaining the health of Vanuatu's dense rainforests. 
  • Vanuatu has the famous wreck of the SS President Coolidge, a World War II ship that sank near Espiritu Santo, which is a popular site for divers. 
  • The country contains blue holes, which are freshwater lagoons created by underground streams that resurface as springs, especially on Espiritu Santo.
