The Solomon Islands lie to the east of Papua New Guinea and northwest of Vanuatu. It’s a remote archipelago spread across the South Pacific Ocean and consists of over 900 islands, with six major islands: Guadalcanal, Malaita, Makira, New Georgia, Santa Isabel, and Choiseul. The islands are known for their stunning natural beauty, biodiversity, including lush rainforests and crystal-clear waters. The Islands played a significant role in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, particularly during the Battle of Guadalcanal, which was a turning point. The official language is English, but you’ll hear Solomon Pijin widely spoken. Honiara, the capital of Guadalcanal Island, is a key hub for government and commerce, while DHL Express also delivers to populated locations such as Auki and Gizo.
