Equatorial Guinea sits on the west coast of Central Africa, bordered by Gabon in the south and Cameroon in the north, with 5 volcanic offshore islands within its territory. One of these islands is home to Equatorial Guinea's capital city of Malabo, located on the island of Bioko, 20 miles from the mainland. The full population of the country is under one million, this makes Equatorial Guinea one of only 10 African countries with a population lower than one million, with 300,000 of the population located in the capital. With only 28,000 square metres of land within Equatorial Guinea, it’s the smallest country within the United Nations.
