- The national animal of Bangladesh is the Bengal tiger, one of the biggest wild cats in the world, rivalled only by the Siberian tiger in size. The largest male tigers can grow up to 3.2m long and weigh 295kg, while the largest female tiger can measure about 2.7m long and weigh up to 181kg.
- Over 700 rivers flow through Bangladesh and it has the world’s second fastest river, the Padma, with the Amazon being the fastest. Three of the largest rivers in Asia flow through Bangladesh - the Ganges, the Meghna and the longest river in the world - the Brahmaputra.

This lost art is being revived today with the resurrection of “phuti karpas” cotton plants. Many of the skills were lost over time so matching the quality of the 800-1200 thread count original material is an ongoing challenge.
