When i lived in Nigeria, I used DHL and recommended you to everyone I knew for fast and reliable services, living in England I still use you, but a few days ago I sent a couple of games and children's clothing (for my children) to Nigeria, and the person I addressed it to was called to come and clear it at customs. It was cleared for around the equivalent of £80, after paying £69.95 so as to meet a deadline for my daughters prom, I am really upset as I had no idea you had to pay customs duty on childrens clothing especially as it was such a small box and was not for resale, I will still use your service but only for documents.

Thank you for your recent comments regarding the DHL service. We are very sorry to hear of your issues with Nigeria customs. However, we can only stress that DHL (or any other courier company) has no control over local custom departments and any duties applied is enforced by the country custom authorities.

We try our up most to highlight that duties may be be applied when sending goods internationally by including information within the leaflet, the information pad, the receipt wallet and the air way bill - all of which can be found instore when sending your parcel.

Once again, we are very sorry to hear of your issues and hope you continue to use the DHL service in future months.

After using royal mail for parcels to the U.S.A. I saw DHL services offered at my local Rymans. Parcels with royal mail took 5-12 weeks! padded envelopes 2 weeks. DHL had my parcel delivered in less than 48 hours. For security reasons mail had been opened and a birthday present which I had wrapped up. Which had been sealed again. In future I will leave cards & letters unsealed and presents unwrapped. The prices charged were not expensive compared to Royal Mail charges. Well done DHL. I will be using your services again soon.

The service in the ServicePoint shop was very good and overall the tracking was good but on the first day I got a message saying 'recipient refused delivery', which was not correct it had been taken back to the delivery depot for the next day, this caused me a lot of concern. The parcel was delivered the next day but there was a big hole in the front of the box about as big as a fist and three of the items were damaged, it did have Fragile written on the box but obviously this was ignored.

We are very sorry to hear that your parcel arrived at its destination damaged and can only apologise on behalf of DHL. When we receive any feedback regarding damaged parcels, we do take this matter extremely seriously and have since spoken with the pick up and delivery depots to try and ascertain where the damage was incurred.

We strive to make sure all customer parcels are delivered in exactly the same condition as sent, our efforts have been recognised with damage claims for 2009 being 0.002%.

I live in a tiny village in the hills of North Wales and needed to get a parcel to India urgently. I was pleased to find my nearest WH Smiths has a service point and that the cost was half that charged by the PO. The member of staff was expremely helpful and tracking the parcel was easy. I was amazed that my parcel reached its destination in one and a half days. I would certainly use the service again.

My first thought was that the service seemed quite expensive versus the Post Office but when I realised the box was free as well as a tracking service I though I'd give it a go and I'm glad I did. Easy to use and the parcel arrived the very next day!! Fab!
